Teatro ellenistico romano di Pareti

I. Eretto nel II sec. a.C. e rifatto in età augustea, fu gradualmente interrato dalle alluvioni nel Medioevo, servendo intanto come cava di pietre per il vicino villaggio di Pareti di Nocera Superiore.

E' appoggiato al lato interno delle mura romane e in asse con la via centrale della città antica, proveniente da Portaromana. Originariamente largo 68 m., era il maggiore tra quelli documentati in età ellenistica in Campania e fu ulteriormente ampliato raggiungendo i 96 m.; vi fu anche annessa un'area porticata, forse destinata a palestra.

Nella stessa zona poco più a monte, è stato riportato alla luce un buon tratto delle mura del II sec. a.C., con tre torri in buono stato.

GB. Dating back to the first century b.C., it is situated 800 metres away from the eastern city wall. The tombs stand at either side of a center line of road (3 metres deep and 10 metres wide) obtained through a cut of original pauement (V.P.). NOT OPEN TO VISITORS

F. Datant du ler siècle avant J.C., elle est située à presque 800 mètres de la ville. Les monuments funéraires sont disposés sur les cotés d'un axe routier, artificiellement creusé, profond de trois mètres et large de dix mètres. (A.C.)
